A U.S. Air Force Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit from Charleston blew up military ammunition Friday evening in The Market Common area.

Myrtle Beach Police say construction crews found the ammunition in a development off Farrow Parkway. The area was once the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base.

It took three explosions to get rid of the ordnance. For safety, officers stopped traffic on Farrow Parkway during each blast.

Myrtle Beach and Horry County Police, along with S.L.E.D., also responded.
