An Olanta man has been arrested and charged after deputies say he lit a person on fire.

Major Mike Nunn, with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, says deputies responded to a report of a burn victim on Monday evening on North Jones Road near Olanta. The victim was transported to a hospital before deputies arrived and has since been transferred to a hospital specializing in burn treatment. No information on their condition is available.

Following a verbal altercation, the suspect allegedly poured an accelerant on the victim and lit the accelerant with a lighter, according to investigators.

The suspect is identified as Kenny Allen Lee, of North Jones Road in Olanta, according to Nunn. Lee has been charged with attempted murder and will be held at the Florence County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.

Nunn adds that according to a warrant, the accelerant was rubbing alcohol.
