MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – An Ohio man is behind bars after police say he broke into several vehicles in a Myrtle Beach neighborhood and led officers on a chase early Wednesday morning.
According to Lt. Raul Denis with Horry County Police, a 911 caller told dispatch there was a suspicious vehicle on Stonebridge Drive in Myrtle Beach around 3 a.m. Wednesday morning. The caller was able to tell the emergency dispatch worker what the car looked like along with the license plate information.
Officers already patrolling the area in connection to numerous car break-ins immediately responded to the call and attempted to pull over the vehicle. Lt. Denis says the driver, Antonio Householder, 41, of Columbus, Ohio, led officers on a car chase after refusing to pull over when officers initiated blue lights.
Householder lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a ditch after a short chase, police report. Lt. Denis says Householder had drugs and stolen items in the car. The Ohio man was found in possession of marijuana, a significant amount of coins, and items that appeared to be stolen and could be linked to the Stonebridge neighborhood, confirms Lt. Denis.
Householder is charged with no driver’s license, simple possession of marijuana, possession of stolen vehicle, failure to stop for blue lights and siren, and breaking into motor vehicles. He is in custody at the Horry County Detention Center.
