Ohio Governor John Kasich stops in Florence on SC campaign trail

FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – More than three hundred people came through Florence Thursday, grabbed their posters, and showed their support for Ohio Governor John Kasich as they packed an auditorium at Francis Marion University.

Supporters say Kasich is one of the most qualified candidates in the race right now when it comes to the economy and balancing the national budget.

“I like the idea that a governor can ascend to become President because he has worked with the legislative executive and judicial branches of the state, whereas a person who is just a first time senator, for example, hasn’t had that kind of experience,” explained supporter David Donmoyer.

Thursday, Kasich talked about his role in balancing the budget in Ohio and made promises that in his first 100 days in office, he would fix the boarder, get started on social security, rebuild the military, and meet with leaders in Europe to build relationships.

People say what got them most excited were the plans Kasich has for South Carolina.

“Creating priorities and shipping welfare back to South Carolina, you’re in charge. Education back to South Carolina, you’re in charge, transportation and infrastructure back to South Carolina, you’re in charge. Job training back to South Carolina, you’re in charge. Programs for the poor in healthcare back to South Carolina and all the other states,” said Kasich.

Kasich will be in Columbia Friday at the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce.

After his stop in Columbia, he’ll then hit Orangeburg, Bluffton, and Greenville.
