A man who fled on foot into woods from a traffic stop earlier this week was found dead in Florence County on Thursday.

The discovery of  Fabian Dozier, age 34 of Gresham, came a day after a intense search by in the area where he was found by authorities that included a helicopter, authorities and neighbors day.

Dozier was discovered by a homeowner in the area before noon on Friday in the 4300 block of Pamplico Highway.

Dozier was stopped for a driving violation on Pamplico Highway early Sunday morning by a FCSO deputy, and while the deputy was conducting a license check, Dozier fled on foot into a nearby wooded area.

The deputy was unable to locate Dozier.

Dozier was last heard from when he contacted a friend via cell phone around 3:30 am Sunday requesting that the friend pick him up from a wooded area.   

Neighbors said that on Thursday the sheriff and deputies were searching for a young man and tracked his cell phone behind a neighbor’s house in the 4300 block of Pamplico Highway.

A neighbor told WBTW that authorities were deep behind the home Thursday and even had helicopters in the area during the search.The Florence County Coroner the autopsy performed on Dozier revealed no evidence of foul play. The case will be pending toxicological analyses.
