MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Wednesday afternoon police made an arrest in connection to a Tuesday morning fire at the Sea Palms Motel on Ocean Boulevard.
Randell Ruben Keith Norton, 46, was arrested for 3rd degree arson around 12:15 p.m.
Detectives found the suspect at the Fountainbleau Inn and when they ran his information, officers saw that he was wanted for other crimes in Texas.
When officers arrested him for the fire, Evans was also charged with telephone/ unlawful communication, breach of trust with fraudulent intent, and fugitive from justice.
Lt. Jonathan Evans says a police officer saw flames coming out of the building Tuesday morning. Evans said the fire was in a room on the first floor of the motel near 7th Avenue North.
Crews arrived just before 8:00 a.m. and put out the fire quickly.
There were no injuries reported.
