OAKLAND  — Some of the 36 victims in the Oakland warehouse fire were found holding each other, according to officials.

Recovery crews who searched the Ghost Ship after the massive fire during a dance party say they found bodies of people “protecting each other, holding each other,” according to the Alameda County sheriff’s spokesman Sgt Ray Kelly.

Victims were also texting their family members during the fire telling them that they were scared and thought they were going to die.

Sheriff’s officials say the victims texted loved ones ‘I’m going to die’ and ‘I love you’ before they perished in the fire.

About 85 percent of the building has been searched so far but officials do not believe that any more victims will be found in the fire.

The City of Oakland has set up a relief fund for the victims of the fire. You can donate here: https://www.youcaring.com/firevictimsofoaklandfiredec232016-706684
