NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW)- North Myrtle Beach sent out a list of stats from Memorial Day Weekend.
The numbers show a 50% decrease in tickets and 25% decrease in warnings; however, officers issued 20 more arrests than last year.
“We have a lot of kids in town that are here to celebrate graduation and some of those arrests are contributed to that,” said Lt. Dana Griffin.
Griffin says a lot of preparation goes into Memorial Day weekend.
“After it’s over it’s kind of like a weight is lifted off you’re shoulders,” she said.
According to Griffin, the numbers reflect great teamwork.
“We utilize bike officers, foot patrol, regular patrol and motor officers,” said Griffin.
Their strategy stayed the same, but Griffin said there were a lot less people on the road.
“I do think the weather had a lot to do with it,” she said.” We had less bikes out.
