MYRTLE BEACH – The North squad held off a late rally to beat the South 21-14 in the Touchstone North-South Bowl Saturday at Doug Shaw Stadium.

Akyah Miranda earned North Defensive MVP honors after intercepting three passes. The North team picked off South quarterback Peyton Derrick five times total.

Derrick, a Conway star, threw two touchdown passes, including one to Lake City product Jalen Barr midway through the fourth quarter to pull the South within 21-14. Barr had five catches for 124 yards and a touchdown to earn South Offensive MVP honors.

South Florence’s Darrell Brown and Georgetown’s Zaire Barron each had two tackles for a loss. Cheraw offensive lineman Ty Lilly was the only local player to celebrate the victory as part of the North squad.
