MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – The North Carolina man charged with attempted murder after a stabbing on Ocean Boulevard will be in court Friday morning.

Captain Joey Crosby with Myrtle Beach police says officers were called to the 900 block of North Ocean Boulevard for a fight around 6:06 p.m. Wednesday evening. The two people involved in the fight ran from officers but were both apprehended after a short foot chase, Capt. Crosby confirms.

Officers realized one of the subjects “suffered significant blood loss from stab wounds.” Officers were able to stop the bleeding with a tourniquet and the stabbing victim was taken to the hospital, says Capt. Crosby.

Officers used city cameras to identify the suspect in the stabbing as 18-year-old Shiquan Cox, says Capt. Crosby. Cox is charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony and resisting arrest.

Cox is scheduled for a bond hearing Friday at 9 a.m.

Capt. Crosby says both the suspect and victim are from North Carolina.
