HARTSVILLE, SC (WBTW) – Officials with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association and the National Weather Service confirm a tornado occurred last night in Darlington County.
Warning Coordinator Meteorologist Steven Pfaff with the NOAA says the EF-1 tornado started on the 1200 block of Fisherman Drive in Hartsville and ended near the 900 block of South Marquis Highway.
According to the NOAA, the tornado had 100 mph winds.
Emergency officials say one person who was inside a camper was being treated for a broken leg after the tornado. Most damages ranged from minor to major, however, there were four residential structures destroyed.
Around 7 p.m. Friday, the National Weather Service also confirmed a tornado happened Thursday night near Patrick in Chesterfield County. That tornado was a EF- 0 with winds up to 85 mph. The report says a few farm buildings were destroyed, a couple of single wide mobile homes experienced damage and the tornado was on the ground for approximately 0.20 miles and had a width of 75 yards.
