Several schools in Horry County participated in National No One Eats Alone Day on Friday.
The day encourages students to sit with new people, as well as identifying and including students who may feel left out.
“It makes you feel good inside,” said Oliver Butler, a sixth grade student. “It makes you want to do it more and make sure that no one is really sitting alone.
Beyond Differences, a student-led social justice movement and organization, says 900,000 students across the country participated in No One Eats Alone Day last year. Those students were from 2,000 schools across all 50 states.
“I think we need to do it every day of the school year so that everyone remains happy and is having fun with their friends,” Butler added.
