CONWAY –

Coastal Carolina scored in each of the first five innings, capped by a Michael Paez grand slam, as the Chanticleers (23-7, 7-1) claimed a 12-3 victory versus Longwood (12-17, 3-9) Friday night at Springs Brooks Stadium.

Coastal Carolina will go for the series sweep Saturday. First pitch is set for 3 pm, which is a change from the original schedule.

Paez was 2-for-2 (double and home run) with a walk, sacrifice bunt, three runs scored and four RBI. It was the sophomore’s first ever grand slam and his fifth round-tripper of the year. (This was CCU’s second grand slam of the season as David Parrett hit one in a 9-5 win versus Clemson on Mar. 17.)
