NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Two teenagers face multiple charges after police say they admitted to an armed robbery in North Myrtle Beach.
According to a North Myrtle Beach Police Department report, officers were dispatched Friday to 804 North Ocean Blvd. just before 3:45 a.m. in reference to an armed robbery.
The victims told police they were approached from behind by two people while walking off of the beach. According to the report, the suspects presented a gun and wrench, demanded a purse from one of the victims and left the area in a car.
North Myrtle Beach Police say the vehicle attempted to elude police after an attempted traffic stop on North Myrtle Point Boulevard. According to the report, the vehicle exceeded 80 MPH before it crashed on Lake Circle in Little River. Responding officers requested assistance from the Horry County Police Department after the two suspects ran from the crashed vehicle into a wooded area.
The North Myrtle Beach Police Department identified the suspects as Carl Lee Carmean, 18, of Little River, and Sierra Noella Swinton, 17, of Little River. Officers say they arrested the two after Swinton’s mother called police telling them her daughter and Carmean admitted to the armed robbery. The report claims the teens confessed to the armed robbery to police, as well.
Police charged Carmean with criminal conspiracy, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, pointing and presenting firearms at a person, armed robbery and resisting arrest. A judge issued Carmean a combined $65,000 bond on all charges.
Police charged Swinton with criminal conspiracy, armed robbery and resisting arrest. She was issued a combined $45,000 bond on all charges.
Both were released on home detention, according to the J. Reuben Long Detention Center website.
