Several professional football and baseball players are in the Grand Strand for a charity golf tournament this weekend, but before hitting the greens they spent time with some special young people on Friday.

They played a game of adapted baseball with members of the Grand Strand Miracle league. The league makes it possible for children with mental and physical disabilities to play the game.

After the game, the children also got autographs from the athletes.

The “2 Live Beyond” celebrity golf tournament brings NFL and MLB players to the Grand Strand for a golf tournament that raises money for two charities. 2015 is the second year for the tournament, which is hosted by Florence, SC, native and former MLB player Reggie Sanders and former NFL player Andre Davis.

The benefiting charities are the Reggie Sanders Foundation Dream Within You Campaign and Africa New Life Ministries.

The Reggie Sanders Foundation is a non-profit organization that aims to provide economic resources, education, and services at the individual, family, and community level to historically marginalized groups touched by disabilities in the greater Pee-Dee region of South Carolina.

Africa New Life Ministries works to break the cycle of poverty in Rwanda by providing education and basic necessities to poor children and families. Their current project is the construction of a health clinic to bring healthcare to the many Rwandans who have never had it before.

The event weekend also includes a concert at the House of Blues on Friday night.
