MULLINS, SC (WBTW) – A $125,000 grant allowed the Mullins Police Department to buy three new patrol cars with the latest technologies. When the car cameras are activated, so is the body camera. Also, if the officer turns the body camera on, the car camera will record. Captain of Operations, Phil Mostowski told us how the new cameras will help officers.
“Now in the digital age everybody is videoing and everything is being questioned. One, it will help the officer… When they are making a case and they is certain details about the case they are not sure of they can go back and look at that,” explained Captain Mostowski.
The new technology will also help the Mullins community.
“If something is questionable, whether it’s a complaint against the officer or just something that happen to that individual that they are concerned about. It lets the administration staff and whoever else needs to know go back and review that footage. Being that the camera and the cars will be integrated we will have multiple views of the same situation,” said Captain Mostowski.
The department will get the body cameras next month. Count on News13 to show you how the body cameras work with the patrol car cameras.
