MYRTLE BEACH (WBTW) – Owners of The Treasure Club are attempting to open a new gentleman’s club after the locations previous owner, Chez Joey, surrendered it’s business license.

Chez Joey previously shut down in April after Horry County Police arrested four people for extensive, and disturbing, sexual assaults being committed on two 4-year-old children over the course of a five month span.

The location has since been closed since March, but now potential new owners plan to open the doors back up and want no connection to Chez Joey.  The Treasure Club’s spokesperson, Melanie Emery says the new owners want no connection and a fresh start.

“There is absolutely no connection between The Treasure Club of Myrtle Beach and the former club owners. We recognize that there have been club owners in Myrtle Beach and throughout the country that reopen their businesses under new names in an effort to overcome or circumvent legal issues. However, The Treasure Club ownership has a long history of operating successful and responsible clubs throughout the Southeast.” Melanie Emery, The Treasure Club’s spokesperson.

Myrtle Beach city spokesperson Mark Kruea confirms the club applied for a business license that is currently under review.

“The Treasure Club ownership is committed to operating within the boundaries of the law and with an unwavering commitment to its employees, patrons and community,” Melanie Emery, The Treasure Club’s spokesperson.

The clubs spokesperson says any future employees will all face a criminal and civil background check prior to employment.

Kruea confirms that so far, only a new sign permit has been granted and applied at it’s location on Seaboard St.
