MYRTLE BEACH – The Myrtle Beach Pelicans have a team full of new faces this year, but they aim for the same result as last year.

Myrtle Beach won the Mills Cup title in the Carolina League, but as is typically the case in minor league baseball, few players from that team return. Even their manager, Buddy Bailey, is a newcomer.

That, of course, doesn’t change the overall objective.

“They did a great job last year,” pitcher Trevor Clifton said. “We’ve got the same goal this year. We’re in it for the ring. And to get a couple wins to start the season would help us.”

The Pelicans open at home game against Frederick Thursday at 7:05 p.m. They play an exhibition game Wednesday in Charleston.
