A 21-year-old Summerville dad has died after a fatal accident in North Charleston.
The crash happened just after noon Wednesday on Rivers Avenue near Northwoods Mall. According to police reports, a Jeep attempted to make a left-hand turn into a parking lot in front of the motorcycle.
Police say the driver of the Jeep, Vicki Taylor, did not yield to the right of way.
The driver of the motorcycle, Michael Carey Record, was ejected upon impact and taken to the Medical University of South Carolina with serious injuries.
The Charleston County Coroner says Record died at MUSC at 7:29 p.m. Wednesday from injuries sustained in the accident. Police say Record was wearing a helmet.
Record “was a loving and caring boyfriend to Nicole, new father to his baby girl Layla, a wonderful son to Donna and Micheal, brother, nephew, cousin and friend to many,” wrote Cathy Vinson, who created a GoFundMe page for the Record family’s expenses.
“Any donations will be greatly appreciated and help for Carey since he is in Gods arms now,” wrote Vinson, who is a close family friend.
The North Charleston Police Department says no charges have been filed at this time.
