MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Neighbors are shaken up after two men were shot and killed near Warren Street in Myrtle Beach on Saturday night.

Warren Street is off Mr. Joe White Avenue and only has a few houses. Many of the homeowners there are related, but those who are not are still treated like family.

Walter Stanley has been living on Warren St. since 1966 and says crimes like this don’t usually happen where they live. He said in the sixties and seventies, neighbors would leave their doors unlocked when they went to church or to the store.

“We want this street to be back the way it used to be, a peaceful street where we can basically leave our doors open like we used to,” said Stanley.

He said after the shooting everyone on the street is shaken up, especially those that have children. Stanley said one child was playing basketball outside when the shooting happened.

“That bullet could have hit that little baby by mistake,” added Stanley.

Neighbors want police to change the way they patrol the area and hope this shooting will encourage them to patrol Warren Street more often..
