PANTEGO, NC– A Belhaven man and juvenile have been charged with looting the Captain Bucks Mini Mart in Pantego during Hurricane Matthew.

Jacob Williams, 18, and Elijah Spencer, 16, both face numerous charges related to the break-in, including trespassing during a state of emergency, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.

During Hurricane Matthew a brick was thrown through the Captain Bucks Mini Mart on Highway 264 in Pantego and money, numerous cartons of cigarettes, knives, lighters, T-shirts and blunt wrappers were taken, deputies say.

After the story was featured on Crime Stoppers, investigators said they received numerous tips that led to identifying the suspects and obtaining a search warrant.

During their search deputies said they found and recovered many of the stolen items.

Spencer was arrested last Wednesday and Williams was arrested after turning himself in to authorities last Thursday.

They were both being held at the Beaufort County Detention Center in lieu of $7,500 bail.
