BOLIVIA, NC (WBTW) – Detectives with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office are asking for anyone who may have come into contact with or been a victim of a Carolina Beach man accused of impersonating an officer to speak with deputies.
Public Information Officer Emily Flax says deputies would like to speak with anyone who may have encountered Joseph Adam Silva, 29, of Raleigh Avenue in Carolina Beach, recently charged with multiple crimes including impersonating a law enforcement officer and rape.
Victims who have had a run-in with Silva may have been assaulted with Silva misrepresenting himself as law enforcement. In previous incidents, Silva targeted females with ads on websites such as Backpage or Craigslist, adds Flax. Detectives would like to assure anyone who comes forward that they will not be incriminated for their actions regarding those ads.
Anyone who may have encountered Joseph Adam Silva is asked to contact Capt. Laurie Watson at 910-880-4842.
