A North Carolina mother and wife, who was a postal worker, has died after her passing mail vehicle was crushed by a falling tree owned by a North Carolina congressman.

The 43-year-old female mail carrier died Saturday when the large tree fell on her U.S. Postal Service vehicle. Lincoln County sheriff’s deputies identified her as Lisa Rudisill Wilkerson of Sherrill’s Ford.

The tree was at the home of U.S. Rep. Patrick McHenry in the town of Denver. McHenry press secretary Jeff Butler said Sunday the North Carolina Republican was visiting out-of-state relatives on Saturday.

Wilkerson, who appeared to get married earlier this month, according to her Facebook page, was delivering mail when a thunderstorm moved through the area. She leaves behind a grown daughter and her husband, according to her Facebook profile.

“In Loving memory .. Lisa Rudisill Wilkerson, please prayers for our family. I don’t know how I will get through this.. l (you) love baby girl,” her mom, Alene Henderson Rudisill, wrote on Facebook.

Power was knocked out temporarily to thousands of electricity customers.
