NC mom dies after daughter stabs her and pours boiling water on her, deputies say

GREENVILLE, NC – Deputies say the woman who had boiling water poured on her and was stabbed by her daughter has now died.

The victim is identified as 47-year-old Tamara Joyner.

Deputies say Joyner is the mother of the suspected attacker, 20-year-old Milina Tapo Harris.

The incident happened overnight Wednesday at a residence on Hollow Drive.

Harris was initially charged with attempted first degree murder Wednesday morning. Investigators are working to amend the charge in this case.

She was placed in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $500,000 secured bond.

Investigators said the victim in the case was taken to Vidant Medical Center but later died.

A motive isn’t known at this time and the investigation is still ongoing.
