RALEIGH, NC – A Raleigh mom has been charged after allegedly beating her 5-week-old child causing a skull fracture with bleeding on the child’s brain, an arrest warrant shows.
Lauren Nicole Schmidt, 27, with a listed address of 308 Buck Jones Road, was arrested on Aug. 18 and faces one charge of felony intentional child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury.
The charge stems from an incident that occurred on Aug. 15, the warrant shows.
Schmidt is being held at the Wake County Detention Center on a $500,000 secured bond.
Her first court appearance is set for Aug. 19.
