MONROE, N.C. (AP) – A middle school psychologist in Monroe has been charged with physically assaulting a student.
Monroe police tell local media outlets that 53-year-old Dayle Kimball Rust II turned himself in to police and has been arrested on a simple assault charge.
Police haven’t identified the student or provided details about the incident. Officers responded Thursday afternoon to Monroe Middle School and were informed that a 14-year-old student had been assaulted by a school staff member.
After police and the school district investigated, police issued an arrest warrant for Rust.
Rust is scheduled to appear in court on April 6.
