SPRING LAKE, NC – The body of a Spring Lake man was found on top of a home after his vehicle crashed and overturned several times early Thursday.
Maurice McLaughlin, 45, of Spring Lake was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado on Ray Road near Highway 210 around 6:30 a.m. when the vehicle began to accelerate, the North Carolina Highway Patrol reported.
McLaughlin lost control of the truck and it ran off the road, overturning several times.
McLaughlin was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.
His body was found on top of a nearby home, the Highway Patrol confirmed.
McLaughlin worked for the last five years at Anderson Creek Barber Shop. A memorial to McLaughlin was sitting on his barber’s chair Friday afternoon.
Speed and alcohol were factors in the crash, officials said.
