GREENVILLE, NC  – A Greenville man was arrested Saturday after he reportedly raped and stabbed a woman.

Just before 5 a.m. Saturday, Greenville Police responded to the Kangaroo gas station at 2600 Charles Boulevard.

A woman told officers she had been stabbed and raped by a male, and escaped to the gas station for help. She was transported to Vidant Medical Center.

GPD arrested Charlie Harris III for the crime, officials said.

Harris is charged with attempted first degree murder, first degree rape, and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill.

He remains at the Pitt County Detention Center under no bond.
