A 28-year-old man died after being struck by lightning Thursday at a shopping center in an area outside Raleigh.
The incident happened about 8:50 pm at the Crossroads Plaza in Cary, WRAL-TV reported.
Authorities said Steven Bryan was in the parking lot of the Michaels Arts and Crafts store when he was hit as severe storms swept through the region for the second straight day.
No one was with Bryan at the time as authorities said he was waiting on a friend.
The Thursday storms caused flooding at 10 apartments in the area and half- to 3/4-inch hail was also reported as the storms moved through Thursday evening.
On Wednesday, hail was reported with severe storms in areas near Raleigh.
