A North Carolina man has been charged after a woman reported possible rapes to North Myrtle Beach police.
According to an incident report from the North Myrtle Beach Department of Public Safety, officers responded to a location at 4801 Harbour Pointe Drive around 11:18 p.m. on October 13 in reference to escorting someone off the property. Upon arriving, officers were advised by dispatch that a criminal sexual conduct crime may have occurred.
Officers made contact with the suspect, identified as Edward Dewynn Johnson of Chadbourn, NC, and asked him if he contacted police, the report says. Johnson reportedly said no and let officers inside a residence. A woman came out of a bedroom and reportedly said she wanted Johnson removed due to him “raping her friend” and “possibly raping her sister.” This woman also reported to police they were playing a board game and drinking.
The woman said while she was trying to take care of everyone, one of the victims called to her for help, according to the report. This victim said Johnson inappropriately touched her.
The woman reportedly got Johnson out of the room amd went out on the balcony to call her other sister, adds the report. When this woman returned, Johnson allegedly had returned to the room and is accused of inappropriately touching one of the alleged victims. The victim was taken to a hospital in Whiteville, North Carolina.
Johnson turned himself in to police on Monday, the report also says.
According to J. Reuben Long Detention Center booking records, Johnson, 48, is charged with third degree criminal sexual conduct and his bail is set at $5,000. He was booked around 6 a.m. and remains in the center as of 5:45 p.m. on Monday.
