A man from North Carolina has been charged after a sexual assault involving a child.
A press release from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division says Ehab Mohamed Elmenshawi, 41, of Davidson, NC, was arrested in connection to a sexual assault on a child in Horry County.
According to an arrest warrant, on or between June 2012 and June 2013, Elmenshawi “willfully and unlawfully” committed the crime of criminal sexual conduct with a minor in the first degree “by engaging in sexual battery with a minor who at the time of the incident was less than eleven (11) years of age.”
Special Agent Thom Berry, with SLED, says this became a SLED case because the victim’s family had ties to the Conway Police Department.
J. Reuben Long Detention Center booking records show Elmenshawi is charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor under 11 in the first degree. He was booked around 8 a.m. on Monday and remains in the center. No bail has been sent.
