FUQUAY-VARINA, NC (WNCN) – A man who thought he was meeting a female at a Fuquay-Varina hotel after chatting with her on Facebook says he was assaulted by two men at the meet-up location.

Documents show that officers with the Fuquay-Varina Police Department were called to the Comfort Inn at 7616 Purfoy Road in Fuquay-Varina on Feb. 13 in reference to a break-in and assault.

The victim complained to officers that he had been kicked and punched. Documents showed the victim complained of a swollen right eye and injured ribs.

The victim told police that the “woman” he had been chatting asked him for $300, which he agreed to give her if the two met at the Comfort Inn.

He told police that two men showed up at his hotel room and “kicked the door in” and demanded the money.

According to documents, the victim said his cell phone and keys to his vehicle were missing.

Police said the victim’s wallet, which contained about $1,000, was located inside his bag.

The victim was taken to WakeMed Hospital in Cary by his wife.
