APEX, N.C. (WNCN) – A 41-year-old man drowned Saturday in Jordan Lake when he tried to rescue his daughter, who was in distress, State Park officials said.
Officials say Leonard Purcell went into the lake to help the 11-year-old just before 5 p.m. That’s when he disappeared under the water. He never resurfaced.CLICK HERE for more photos
It took dive teams around 30 minutes to locate Purcell’s body.
The man was with around 15 family members at the lake when incident occurred.
The girl was not hurt.
