Joshua Bass, 8, was participating in Friday’s picture day at his elementary school in Durham.
After taking some photos, the photographer showed Joshua the finished product on his camera.
The third grader was surprised at who was standing behind him — it was his dad!
Joshua then turned around to see his dad, Corporal James Bass.
Bass had been deployed for a year overseas, but returned in time to surprise his son.
