At least 4 people are dead and 2-3 others wounded in an early morning shooting at the Waffle House on Murfreesboro Pike in Antioch, said police on the scene.
Authorities said the gunman started shooting inside the restaurant around 3:25 a.m.
Witnesses told police the suspect is a white man with short hair, that he was nude and ran from the scene.
A manhunt is underway for 29-year-old Travis Reinking of Morton, IL. (See photo)
News 2 has learned that a patron apparently wrestled with the gunman and got a rifle away from him.
Dozens of police, tracking dogs and chopper on the scene.
Statement from Waffle House:
We are deeply saddened by this tragic incident. Right now, our first thoughts are with the victims and their families, and we will be there for them in this most difficult time. We are still gathering the details, and so we do not have much information to share. While this is an active investigation, we defer all questions about the incident to the Metro Police in Nashville. Our Senior Vice President, Area Vice President, Division Manager and other members of management are on site now to assist in any way they can. We also have a corporate team on the way from Atlanta. This is a very sad day for the Waffle House family, and we ask for everyone to keep the victims and their families in their thoughts and prayers.This is a developing story. “It’s a tragic day for our city anytime people lose their lives at the hands of a gunman. My heart goes out to the families and friends of every person who was killed or wounded in this morning’s shooting. I know all of their lives will be forever changed by this devastating crime.”
