MYRTLE BEACH (CNN/WBTW) – The biggest supermoon of the year will brighten the skies tonight.
While clouds are forecast for the Grand Strand and Pee Dee areas, glimpses of the supermoon might be possible.
The moon will look huge due to how close it is to the earth. Tonight’s moon will appear 7 percent larger and 15 percent brighter than usual.
You also might hear people calling it the snow moon, due to the typically higher snowfall amounts that occur in February elsewhere in the country.
The supermoon will reach its peak Tuesday at about 10:54 a.m. EST, although it won’t be visible then.
Instead, check the skies Tuesday night for the best views.
