A man in Philadelphia is recovering after he was impaled on a statue at a city park, police said.

Officers responded to Eakins Oval at 2500 Spring Garden St. around 4:10 p.m. Tuesday in reference to an injured man.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers found a 21-year-old man impaled on a deer statue.

The man told police that he was climbing on a fence when he slipped and fell on the deer statue. The left side of his body was impaled on the deer, police said. He suffered a laceration and bleeding as a result of the fall.

The man was transported to Hahnemann University Hospital in stable condition.
