A Myrtle Beach woman was kidnapped and sexually assaulted at knife point while walking to a sports bar this past weekend, police say.

The incident happened around 11 pm Saturday night and a suspect was arrested on Tuesday, according to Myrtle Beach Police.

Norris James Ross, age 51, of Myrtle Beach is being held without bond after being charged in the incident that happened at an apartment at the corner of Graham and Dunbar streets, police said.

The incident began as a 35-year-old woman was walking in the Willow Run neighborhood to the Bumstead’s Sports Bar on Joe White Avenue, police said in a report.

“While walking she encountered a black male with dread locks who asked her if she wanted to have a cigarette,” police said in a report.

“The victim agreed and when she accepted the black male pulled out a silver knife, held it to her neck, and dragged her into an apartment on the corner of Graham and Dunbar streets,” police said.

The man then sexually assaulted the woman.

After the victim was let go she ran outside where she encountered a woman who asked her what had happened.

“The female told the victim she ‘should not be in this area’ and ‘that was one of the twins’ the victim was with,” police said in the report.

The victim suffered a bruise on her left foot in the attack, police said.

Ross was charged with criminal sexual conduct – first degree and kidnapping. He is currently being held in the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
