The Myrtle Beach author of the article that caused the ‘Dad Bod’ trend to explode over the last few days says many are mistaking exactly what the body type means.
Mackenzie Pearson is a 19-year-old Clemson student and Myrtle Beach resident.
She is also the author of The Odyssey article, “Why Girls Love the Dad Bod”.
“‘Dad Bod’ is a healthy balance between being fit and active and athletic as well as being someone who enjoys life and indulges in the different treats of life,” said Pearson.
Pearson wrote the article back in March, but just recently it has gone viral online and on many news outlets across the nation.
She said the idea for the article came from her friends; who she says all enjoy the ‘Dad Bod’ as well.
“I think that its added a level of confidence to those guys that have this body and are now viewing themselves as hot and sexy and something that is in trend and something that girls want; something that’s desirable,’ said Pearson.
She says the ‘Dad Bod’ allows a girl to be more vulnerable and accepting of her own imperfections.
Some people say the ‘Dad Bod’ trend gives men a reason to be out of shape, but Pearson says that is not the case.
“It’s not an unhealthy lifestyle. It’s not promoting overweight people to encourage their unhealthy eating habits, or discourage people from working out, it’s just the body of someone who has an average life eating habit,” said Pearson.
She says it is all about finding a healthy balance, not just for guys with a ‘Dad Bod’, but girls as well.
We’re all waiting on the sequel article on the ‘Mom Bod’.
