MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW)-The 2015 Spring Harley Rally ends this Sunday and those with the Myrtle Beach Speedway will use the influx of people as a way to boost business.
One way it hopes to do that is with a concert featuring some of country music’s biggest stars like Travis Tritt, The Outlaws and Charlie Daniels.
The Speedway’s General Manager says he expects close to 5,000 people at Friday night’s concert and a lot of planning goes into the event. But he says the Speedway offers a unique experience in Myrtle Beach.
“Myrtle Beach doesn’t have an awesome outdoor venue. Obviously we can go down to The Pavilion and be by the water but it’s tight. Where we can come here to the racetrack and we’ve got plenty of parking and plenty of space,” General Manager Steve Zacaharias said.
They filled that space with dozens of vendors from across the Grand Strand.
“We’ve had the vendors and we’ve been trying to grow that well when you have vendors you know to get someone from Murrells Inlet or get them from going to barefoot landing we need to have more,” Zacharias said.
Those who came into town for the rally say the concert added extra appeal.
“Oh absolutely, I think the people they’re having for the concert. I think just having the concert here and it being a low cost will definitely attract people,” Alexandria Pilot said.
The vendors participating hope that means more profit for them too.
“We’re looking forward to it plus it’s Charlie Daniels, man that’s like one of the most requested or known songs ever. I’ll be here until they make us leave,” Vendor Whitey Clown said.
Organizers say the festivities will end before the 11:00 noise ordinance curfew starts.
