Myrtle Beach police continue to investigate a shooting that happened Wednesday night in a hotel parking lot but witnesses are reluctant to help, police say.
Captain Joey Crosby with the Myrtle Beach Police Department confirmed at 10:24 p.m. Wednesday night that officers were investigating a shooting that happened at 806 S. Ocean Blvd, in the Days Inn parking lot.
Captain Crosby says one person was injured and they are expected to recover. He says investigators are reviewing the city’s surveillance cameras. Crosby adds Thursday morning that the “investigation was delayed as some witnesses on the scene were reluctant to cooperate with investigators and provide information as to what they observed.”
Police have not released information on a motive or given a suspect description. Immediately after the shooting, Captain Crosby asked the community to avoid the area as there was a heavy police presence to conduct the investigation.
Just hours after the reported shooting at Days Inn, officers were called to a second shooting on Ocean Boulevard just a little more than a mile away. Police responded to 9th Ave N and Ocean Blvd. after a group of people sitting on the steps of Ripley’s Believe It Or Not fired shots at two vehicles. Four people have been detained in that shooting.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Myrtle Beach police at 843-918-1382.
