MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW)- The Myrtle Beach Rotary Club honored two Myrtle Beach police officers today.
Patrolman First Class Shon McCluskey was named Police Officer of the Year. Officer McCluskey has spent 18 years with the Myrtle Beach Police Department, and the past 13 with the traffic unit. He is an Standardized Field Sobriety Testing and DUI Enforcement instructor, and is involved in the Citizens’ Police Academy. Over the past year, Officer McCluskey has answered over 1,300 calls, conducted 900 traffic stops, and made more than 120 DUI arrests.
Sgt. Bryan Murphy was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. A 24-year law enforcement profession, he has served in Myrtle Beach for 15 years. Officer Murphy worked as a school resource officer, and was named the Myrtle Beach Police Department Special Events Coordinator. Officer Murphy also worked with the Street Crimes Unit after he was promoted to sergeant. Currently, he is a training instructor in several topics, and is in charge of the regulatory unit overseeing all taxis, trucks, and other items in Myrtle Beach.
Today, the South Carolina House of Representatives also recognized the Myrtle Beach Rotary Club on the occasion of its 70th anniversary.
