Myrtle Beach resort room catches fire with man inside, woman charged with attempted murder

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – A woman has been arrested in connection with the fire that occurred early Tuesday morning at the Ocean Reef Resort. According to the Myrtle Beach Police report and online booking records, Dawn Alivia Jordan, 40, is charged with attempted murder and arson second degree.

The report states Jordan went to the front desk and told and told the clerk her room was on fire and that someone was still in the bed. When officers arrived, smoke was pouring from the room. The officer kicked the door open and shouted for anyone in the room, but there was no response.

The fire department arrived and discovered a male victim unresponsive in the back corner of the room. He was taken to Grand Strand Regional for treatment and his condition is not known at this time.

Jordan was taken into custody on an unrelated warrant Tuesday, and after further investigation of the fire was subsequently charged with attempted murder and arson.
