MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – After three people agreed to give a man a ride, they ended up facing a knife in the Sun and Sands Hotel parking garage, police said.
A man with a spider web tattoo on his face approached the three people at a convenience store on Wednesday and asked for a ride, according to a Myrtle Beach Police Department report. When they arrived at the parking garage, the man pulled out a knife, said he was going to kill one of them, and asked for their money, police said.
Michael Eugen Denny, 34, has been charged with armed robbery, robbery while armed with a deadly weapon, possession of a deadly weapon during a violent crime and kidnapping.
One of the victims gave the suspect $250 from his wallet, according to police, and asked if the suspect wanted his debit card, too. The suspect told the victim he only wanted cash, police reported. The other victims said they did not have any cash.
Police said they found Denny in a hotel room two blocks from the incident and each of the victims identified him.
Denny remains in the J Reuben Long Detention Center. No bail has been set.
