Myrtle Beach police arrest woman after she set boyfriend’s clothes on fire

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Police arrested a woman Sunday after she set her boyfriend’s clothes on fire in her motel room.

Officers arrested 29-year-old Robyn Juanita Montgom El-deeb and charged her with third-degree arson and resisting arrest Sunday.

According to the investigation report from Myrtle Beach Police, investigators showed up at the White Sands Motel in reference to a fire at 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

A maintenance man said he saw the woman run around the side of the building with her belongings in multiple bags and a short time later, the victim approached him and led him to the burning motel room.

When they opened the door to the room, the maintenance man said he was “immediately overtaken by a large amount of smoke coming out of the room,” saying “he could not see into the room due to the smoke,” the report says.

The victim told police that the two were having an argument about money and he left the motel to go to the beach.  When he came back 30 minutes later, he found all of his clothes were on fire in the bathtub.

A witness says they overheard the suspect talking earlier in the day about how her boyfriend “had better pay her good or that he would pay for it, he would be in big trouble, and that she would be getting even with him,” the report says.

Police were told that the suspect was hiding behind a dumpster at the Subway at 8th Avenue and Kings Highway with all of her belongings and when they found her, she was uncooperative with the officers and gave multiple false names.

Later, police found out that there was a warrant out of Myrtle Beach for traffic offenses.
