A Myrtle Beach nurse was killed Monday morning after a two-car crash in Horry County.
According to Cpl. Sonny Collins with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 6:30 a.m. on US 378 near Pee Dee Highway, about 5 miles west of Conway.
Collins said the driver of a 2006 Ford SUV turned in front of a 2001 Ford car causing the collision.
The driver of the 2001 Ford died in the crash and was not wearing a seatbelt, Collins said.. A passenger inside the car was also taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Horry County Deputy Coroner Tony Hendrick identified the victim as 32-year-old Melanie Boyer of Myrtle Beach. She died from internal injuries at Conway Medical Center, Hendrick said.
Hendrick said that Boyer was a registered nurse and worked as a home health-care worker.
The driver of the SUV was taken to a local hospital and will be charged with failure to yield the right of way, Collins said.
