SOCASTEE- The Myrtle Beach Mutiny is a Grand Strand amateur soccer team that may be on its way to the club’s best season yet.
“We’ve got about 28 guys on the squad- and every single one of those guys is good enough to play any day,” head coach Tom Morris said.
Most of the team played together for the first time about three months ago.
“We just clicked straight away, that’s the main thing, we just got along really well,” Josh Heafield, a junior from Erskine explained.
Since then, the Mutiny has found success through hard work. Heading into the playoffs, they’re ranked second out of 68 teams in the league.
“We’re not likely to be a part of a team like this again, this is a very special season,” Heafield said.
This club’s season is far from finished. This weekend they host what could be the first of three home playoff games games. If they survive and advance, Nationals is the last stop.
“There’s not really any nerves, but there’s definitely more of a competitive edge,” St. James High School senior Cole Gulledge said.
Now the team is just days away from their next big shot, with their main goal within reach.
The Myrtle Beach Mutiny will host FC Wichita Kansas on Saturday at 7:30 P.M. at Ashley Booth Field.
