MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Many Myrtle Beach Marathon runners likely set personal bests during Saturday’s race, but one of the most memorable competitors was an 81-year-old Alabama runner who was last to cross the finish line.

Ray Moses, 81, of Huntsville, Alabama, completed this year’s Myrtle Beach Marathon in just under seven hours and 40 minutes. Race volunteers welcomed a smiling Moses across the line with his well deserved race medal. Saturday’s race was Moses’ 91st marathon.

Moses came to Myrtle Beach specifically to compete. While he may not have finished first, he won first place in the hearts of many city employees, one of which captured the photo of Moses receiving his medal and shared it on the city’s Facebook page.
