MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW)- The South Carolina Highway Patrol says a motorcycle rider died in a crash Saturday evening.
Horry County Coroner Robert Edge identified the victim as 28-year-old Kristopher Privette of Myrtle Beach. The coroner says he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers say the crash happened shortly after 10:30pm on Highway 501 near the Intercoastal Waterway. The Highway Patrol says Privette was riding a 2008 Yamaha and traveling south on Highway 501 before he hit the back of a Dodge van.
Trooper say Privette was not wearing a helmet.
No one in the van was hurt. The highway patrol is now investigating.
SCHP closed down this section of Highway 501 while responding to the crash.
