CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – The Conway Police Department says an arrest has been made in the armed robbery of a Walgreens pharmacy Sunday.
Sgt. Darren Alston with the police department says officers were called to the Walgreens store at 1601 Church Street Sunday morning at 8:42 a.m. for an armed robbery. A man entered the store and gave a note to the employee demanding a “specific type of drug,” reports Sgt. Alston, but the press release did not say what drug was stolen.
Joshua Amos Ratley, 27, of Myrtle Beach, was arrested for armed robbery and booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center just hours after photos from the store’s surveillance cameras were released to the media.
After Ratley was given the drug, he left the store and drove away in a white Mercedes SUV heading toward Myrtle Beach on Highway 501, according to police.
Surveillance photos from the robbery were released Monday morning. Ratley was booked into jail at 1:14 p.m. Monday. According to online booking records, Ratley had only been out of jail for 11 days before his arrest for the armed robbery. Ratley was jailed Oct. 12 for DUI by South Carolina Highway Patrol, according to J. Reuben Long records.
